4. Recommendations of Malayan Salaries
Commission differ from those of Hong Kong
Commission in advocating a flat rate of
cost of living allowance above a certain
salary, but neither the Malayan nor the
Hong Kong Commission recommends tapering off
(see paragraph 1 above). If Malayan
Governors see $x objection to such
tapering off in Malayan circumstances will aek Governor-Gene.al please telegraph to

If however Malayan Governors agree with
principle of tapering, they will no doubt
